| Sunday 27 September | Which Website Offers Baby Boomer Women the Support They Need? |

Website Snapshot
- What is It? Her Mentor Center is tailored to meet the emotional needs, transitions and dilemmas faced by baby boomer women going through mid-life.
- Who is It Good For? Any woman who is juggling any combination of children, aging parents, life partners, communication issues, facing her own issues with passing into midlife and who also wants to figure out how to take care of herself emotionally too.
Her Mentor Center is a website that helps baby boomer women through mid-life transitions and teaches them how to nourish themselves while also being good to others in relationships. We live in a country where very few people think about what the cultural zeitgeist of women age 50+ is. And that's a problem, since it is those exact women who are the backbone of family care in our country: they are the ones who, by in large, are caring for both aging parents and growing children (a.k.a. "The Sandwich Generation"), and they often have no one to turn to for help, empathy and solutions to their issues. The two women behind Her Mentor Center are trying to change that. Bringing kindness, support and, when needed, a healthy dose of "snap out of it!" to women in the sandwich generation.
The blog is penned by Rosemary Lichtman, Ph. D., Psychologist and Phyllis Goldberg, Ph. D., Marriage and Family Therapist. These two women bring heart and smarts to baby boomer women who currently are undergoing transitions and need help feeling confident, supported and settled. The beauty of this site is how they really offer hands-on information for how to navigate multiple, complex and emotional situations—and all with a very positive attitude towards women, which is perhaps only striking when you realize how so many of their readers feel understood for the first times in their lives. They also work in news stories and show how the rich and famous can often mirror the issues we face in our lives.
What They Offer
The website boasts a blog along with some other offerings:
- NourishingRelationshipsBlogspot.com includes videos and a recent series on the issues that can come from being placed into the new role of mother-in-law and some of the tension that can occur and how to dissipate it or how to deal with boomerang kid or adult children that is returning to live with you.
- Free monthly newsletter Stepping Stones and previous issues
- The site also has multiple articles, which covers complicated family dynamics or ways to help with transitions in both their Insights and Nourishing Relationships sections.
- The two women also offer mentoring services for a fee since sometimes you might think you need more personalized help. As they live in Marina Del Ray, these services are offered via phone and email.
