One of the easiest ways to keep your aging parents safe in the home is to prevent falls. Falls can often create a cascade effect—even years after they have occurred. Winter, with its ice, snow, sleet and rain, make more areas around the home slippery and more likely to cause a fall. Both salting and shoveling walkways will keep paths manageable, but this can be difficult to maintain, especially for those with limited mobility or who just need a little extra help getting around as both require some combination of strength, dexterity and agility to perform.
The HeatTrak heated doormat is the safe, easy way to help prevent winter slips and falls in front of the home. All you need to is just turn the mat on when snow starts to fall. The heated mat melts up to 2" an hour and can be placed outside at the onset of winter and left for the entire season as it is designed to withstand the wear and tear of weather and shoes. The mat's bottom layer is non-slip rubber topped by the heating element and its top surface is a thick layer of non-slip carpet. The surface temperature doesn't exceed 50ºF, making the UL-listed HeatTrak safe for your visitors, whether they are human or pets. The 6-ft. ground fault-protected power cord plugs directly into a standard 120V outlet, but we recommend taping the cords down so as to make sure they don't trip anyone up.
